What is the budget for your study in China?
The expense in China is relatively low comparing to developed countries. The cost of living and life in some large Chinese cities like Beijing and Shanghai are slightly higher, but the general costs are still lower than that of the developed countries. There are also some smaller cities such as Xi’an, Shenyang, Dalian, Zhengzhou, and Weifang for you to choose because they are comparatively smaller but you can live very well with much lower costs. Which Chinese city or university you want to study in?
If you are not familiar with Chinese cities and universities, there are a lot of data for you to look over. For university rankings, browse our University Rankings or use our School search to search for a university.
If you have no idea about cities, you can browse our study in Qingdao; study in Shanghai; study in Beijng; study in Dalian; study in Jinan and study in Weifang. These cities have more policies and English-taught courses to welcome foreign students to study in China.
If you are considering studying non-degree programs to learn Chinese, you may have heard that Shandong province is known as one of the original land of the standard mandarin and is also the birth place of Confucius (the great Chinese ancient philosopher). Shandong University boasts the highest HSK pass rate among Chinese universities.

How long will you plan to study in China?
The study duration of Degree Programs are as follows:

- Bachelor’s Degree 4 -6 years
- Master’s Degree 2 -3 years
- Doctoral Degree 3 -4 years
(Degree programs: At most Chinese universities degree programs begin every September. A small number of courses can admit students during spring.)
The study duration of Degree Programs are as follows:
Non-degree programs: are mainly one-semester (4-6 months), one-year or short-term (anywhere from 1-8 weeks). Language programs: for the one-semester language programs, they usually open in either semester. (starting in both September and February/March); these longer programs which last for one-year usually opens during September; the short-term courses may be subjected to fixed time or according to the number of the students. Summer courses have start dates throughout June, July and August, and last for 1-8 weeks.
