Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), founded in 1940, is a key national university in China and was among the first institutions to be included in the country’s “Project 211,” “Project 985,” and the “Double First-Class” initiative. In the 2024 QS World University Rankings, a globally influential ranking by the UK, BIT ranked 340th among the world’s top 500 universities. In the 2023 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), BIT was ranked among the top 101-150 universities worldwide. In terms of global graduate employability, BIT ranks 9th among universities in mainland China. Beijing Institute of Technology primarily focuses on science and engineering disciplines, while also balancing development in management, humanities, and other fields. Most of its programs rank among the top ten in Chinese universities. In recent years, BIT has continuously advanced its internationalization strategy, building a “global community” for talent development, improving the quality of education, and creating an international learning and living environment. As a result, the university’s level of internationalization and global influence have been steadily increasing. Currently, BIT has over 2,700 international students from 149 countries.
